Loved our stay here. The beach was a three minute walk from the front door and a special mile walk through the forest in the back also allowed us to enjoy nature and relax. The house has everything you could want and the owners (who live next door) were warm and welcoming.

We had a great time, the beach was 100 feet away with easy access, paths winding through the forest to explore, wildlife at our door. Celeste and Dexter were wonderful hosts, very friendly and attentive.

The Gauntlett House was the ideal get away during the COVID-19 Pandemic. Set back about 100 yards from the bluff overlooking Lake Michigan, the Gauntlett House provided a comfortable and homey summer retreat. The beds were comfortable and the bathrooms fully sufficient (I think we used the outdoor shower far more than the one inside). While all of us are , ahem, adults, the house is clearly furnished with young children in mind. The highlight of each evening was watching the gorgeous Lake Michigan sunsets from the screened in front porch. Dexter and Celeste are consummate hosts, and we could not have been more pleased.

We had a fantastic time and the owners were wonderful. The location was great and the weather helped make it one of our best trips with family.

Property is obviously well taken care of and in wonderful shape. It’s a great size for a party of 8 and is super kid friendly! Beautiful beach and great private access really makes the trip even more special. Only thing I would suggest is for the owner at some point to put a shower head in the upstairs bathroom so people have two indoor shower options. Other than that, it was perfection. Thank you so much for everything!

Celeste always has the house sparkling when we arrive. Its very comfortable and we always enjoy our stay. The location is wonderful – able to see sunset from porch if we can’t get down to beach to do so. The yard is great for the kids to play in too.

Just stayed at this lovely home for my son’s wedding weekend in Saugatuck. The home is beautiful and the pics do not do it justice. Everything you need is there all you will need to bring is food, drink and your swimsuits☺ We had 2 deer visit us near the back porch, kids loved that and even though it rained most of our stay, we had a great time. Between the rain we did venture to the beach, a very short walk and you can see the lake from the front porch. Thank you Dexter and Celeste for a beautiful vacation retreat,we will be back!

We just returned home after spending four nights at Celeste and Dexter’s house and to say we had a great time is an understatement. The house is huge, even closer to the water than it looks in the photos, with a large backyard for the kids to run around. We had four adults, three toddlers, and a baby and had PLENTY of room. It was equipped with everything you would need to make breakfast, lunch and dinner. Celeste and Dexter live next door and are extremely helpful and friendly, and always available to answer any questions. The beach is clean and private, and like I said, very close to the house. We cannot recommend this house enough for your next vacation and will definitely be returning!

We stayed here for three nights and loved, loved, loved it! The house was immaculate, the beach was gorgeous and private (we loved the palapa!) and the owners were incredibly friendly and helpful. Saugatuck and Douglas are very close and fun towns to visit. While it sounded like there were several good restaurants for dinners in the vicinity, we enjoyed the house so much that we grilled out on the patio every night and then spent the rest of the evening gabbing on the very comfortable screened porch. This was a mini reunion for four University of Michigan women and we’ve decided that we want to come back next year!

My sisters and I had an amazing time together at this beautiful home. The home is much larger than it appears in the photos and if you love the farmhouse feel (as we do) you will throughly enjoy this home. The private beach and hut was so perfect we hated to leave. The town of Saugatuck and Douglas are so close with cute little shops and restaurants. The owners, Celeste and Dexter were so nice and a true pleasure to rent from. Dexter even made us a fire on the beach right before sunset that allowed us to spend the evening watching the beautiful sky. We definitely hope to rent again next year. Thank you!!!

I am very late on writing this review but finally have a chance so here goes. STOP LOOKING AND STAY AT THIS HOUSE! 🙂 It is a wonderful house. Celeste and Dexter are the nicest couple ever and they were so sweet welcoming us and making sure we were all settled. We stayed here with our two toddlers and father in law for the week and there was so much space we didnt even need to use one of the bedrooms and everyone had their own room. the house is located very close to everything to do and the beach with the best hammocks and shade ever are a less than a 5 minutes walk to the end of the street (didnt even have to carry the toddlers). I would absolutely stay at their property again. it is cared for with lots of love- celeste and dexter make sure everything looks immaculate. and i wish i would have taken my good camera (i am a photographer) and taken some pics for them because inside the house is much more bright and airy and pretty than it looks in some of the photos. the house is a lot bigger than it looks too. we had such a great trip and we cant wait to go back again. i would again highly recommend this property to anyone and celeste and dexter are awesome!

Great house – lots of character. Beds were comfortable, screened-in porch was a great place to watch the sunset, take a nap or read, well-stocked kitchen with everything you would need. Will definitely stay here again.

We had a great time with our group of 6 adults and 2 toddlers at the Gauntlett House. While the house does not overlook the beach, it is an easy walk to the lake and the house is in a beautiful location. We took quick trips to Saugatuck, Oval Beach, downtown Fennville, and Saugatuck Dunes State Park. Definitely recommend for a weekend away with family and kids!

Its an old farmhouse with updated amenities. The downstairs was very friendly to the 3 year old, 14 month old, and 11 month old in our group. This was a huge benefit to us because we could be in the kitchen cooking and it was comfortable having the babies in the living room and letting them roam without worrying about their whereabouts. Celeste and Dexter, the owners, were very accommodating to our family and had pack-n-plays set up for us when we arrived and also made us a bonfire on the beach.

The key points of the Gauntlett house were the screened in porch, outdoor shower, and private beach with cabana. It was also nice to have cable for the children to watch cartoons and a grill to barbecue several nights.

I recommend this house for a large family seeking to relax both indoors and at the beach. The house is close to several towns with neat things to do like shopping, restaurants, and boat rentals.

The money is well worth it!

We just arrived home after a one week stay at Gauntlett House. The property was exactly as described in the listing. It is outfitted with everything needed for a comfortable stay. Plenty of space, nicely decorated and very well maintained. Owners were very friendly and helpful…next door just in case we needed anything, but definitely not intrusive. A great place for extended family/friend get away. There were seven in our group and we all had plenty of elbow room and private spaces. We loved boating around Saugatuck and to Holland. We used Tower Marina…ten minutes away and they offered weekly mooring rates. Lots of great shopping and restaurants nearby. We recommend the Saugatuck Dune Rides…a lot of fun!

Thanks Celeste and Dexter for a lovely stay!
