The Gauntlett House

The Gauntlett House

Beach Vacation Rental on Lake Michigan in Fennville, MI

About Us

The Gauntlett House Family History

The house was built in 1870.

It was purchased by my husbands grandparents , who lived in Chicago , in 1935 as a summer house so it has been in the Gauntlett family for over 85 years.
My husband (Dexter) spent his childhood summers in this house in Pier Cove  (name of the neighborhood now).

Introducing Celeste and Dexter

We inherited the house in 2002 and decided to leave the crazy Bay Area of California to come back to the Midwest and live in this scenic area.    We lived in the house for 8 years and in 2010 built a new house next door.

We love the Farmhouse (as we call it) and knew we wanted to keep it, so we decided to turn it into a vacation rental so that others could enjoy it as well as our private beach and the surrounding area. We left many original antiques and paintings in the house and also did some upgrades.

We have met so many wonderful guests over these past 11 years and love sharing the house and area with them. We have had many 3 generational families stay as well as Girlfriend getaway groups, couples, golfing buddies, bike riding friends, etc.

I retired when we moved from CA to Michigan and Dexter left the banking industry to become a craft brewer at our local Saugatuck Brewing Company!

We enjoy living here and love being on the water,  the changing seasons (even the snow), the slower pace of life, the many outdoor activities such as biking and hiking, visiting the wonderful art galleries, the delicious farm to table restaurants, touring and tasting in the wineries and breweries, the many farm stands with fresh summer produce.

We have 5 adult children all living on the west coast in Oregon and California and 3 grandkids. Our other passion is international travel and we try to do one and sometimes 2 trips a year outside the USA.
